FRANKLIN INDIA EQUITY SAVING FUND is an open-ended scheme investing in equity, arbitrage and debt. The performance of the Scheme would be benchmarked against Nifty Equity Savings Index.

The Scheme intends to generate long-term capital appreciation by investing a portion of the Scheme’s assets in equity and equity related instruments. The Scheme also intends to generate income through investments in fixed income securities and using arbitrage and other derivative Strategies. There can be no assurance that the investment objective of the scheme will be realized.

  • Open-ended scheme investing in equity, arbitrage and debt
  • Subscription closes on 17-Aug-2018
  • Expected Date of Allotment before 24-Aug-18
  • Invest a minimum of Rs. 5,000/- and in multiples of Re 1/- thereafter
  • Scheme re-opens for ongoing sale and repurchase on 3-Sep-18
  • Exit Load: If redeemed/switched out within 12 months of allotment, no exit load for up-to 10% investment and 1% exit load beyond that. If redeemed/switched out after 12 months from the date of allotment exit load will be Nil
Investment Strategy:

FRANKLIN INDIA EQUITY SAVING FUND has a dual objective of generating income by investing in debt and money market securities as well as generating capital appreciation by investing in equity and equity-related securities. It will seek to reduce the volatility of returns by actively using equity derivatives as a hedge. Further, the scheme may invest into equity stocks in the cash market and take a short position in the futures market to avail arbitrage between spot & futures market and reduce net long equity exposure.

Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Jawaharlal Nehru Technical University, Hyderabad; Post Graduate Diploma in Management from Indian Institute of Management – Ahmedabad. He is Vice President and Portfolio Manager – Equity. He has had prior experience with ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company (Head – Equity), HSBC Capital Markets (Equity Analyst), ABN Amro Asia Equities (Equity Analyst), Unit Trust of India (Buy Side Analyst), Crompton Greaves (Design Executive).

2/ Sachin Padwal Desai (45) has BE., PGDM (IIM-Bangalore) He is Vice President and Portfolio Manager – Fixed Income. He has had prior experience with ICICI Bank Ltd (Balance sheet Management, Interest rate risk management, SLR maintenance, liquidity management), Infosys Technologies Ltd (Software Engineer)

3/ Umesh Sharma (41) has B.Com., C.A., C.S., C.F.A He is Vice President and Portfolio Manager – Fixed Income. He has had prior experience with Religare Mutual Fund (Portfolio Manager – Fixed Income), Lotus India Mutual Fund (Portfolio Manager- Fixed Income), ICICI Bank (Chief Manager), JM Financial Mutual Fund (Manager – Fixed Income), UTI Mutual Fund (Primary Dealer)

4/ Srikesh Nair (33) has Post Graduate Diploma in Management from Management Development Institute, Gurgaon; B.S. Marine Engineering from BITS Pilani. He is Senior Manager & Research Associate – Equity. He has had prior experience with Goldman Sachs Services Private Limited (Analyst), Teekay Shipping (Trainee Marine Engineer)
